When it comes to the world of competition barbecue, few names stand out like Harry Soo. Harry is a self-taught pitmaster who has cemented himself as one of the most respected figures in the BBQ community.
Harry Soo is the founder of Slap Yo’ Daddy BBQ, a competitive barbecue team that has earned a cult following among BBQ enthusiasts. Originally from Malaysia, Harry moved to the United States, where he developed a love for American-style barbecue. Despite having no formal culinary training, he honed his low and slow BBQ skills to build an impressive resume.
- KCBS Reserve Grand Champion: Awarded 2009 Reserve Grand Champion amid 162 of the nations best teams.
- Grand Champion Titles: He has won over 30 Grand Championships in various BBQ competitions across the US.
- KCBS (Kansas City Barbeque Society) Awards: Soo has placed in the Top 10 KCBS Team of the Year rankings multiple times.
- First Place in Brisket at the American Royal Invitational: This is one of the most prestigious BBQ competitions in the world, often referred to as the “World Series of BBQ.”
- BBQ Pitmasters: chosen among over 5,000 professional teams to appear on TLC’s BBQ Pitmasters in 2010. In the Season Finale, Harry Soo defeating all the teams in the show including two BBQ World Champions in the winner-take-all Rib Throwdown in Texas.
- Category Wins: 80+ first place finishes in various categories and countless 2nd, and 3rd place finishes.
